WE ARE READY TO SUPPORT GOV’T IN JOB CREATION – GHANA POST DIRECTOR-BREAKING NEWS- GHANA POST KUMASI
The Ashanti Regional Director of Ghana Post Mr. Johnson Asante has disclosed that his outfit is ready to provide more jobs to supplement government efforts at solving unemployment situation that have bedeviled the country if logistics supply are made available to the outfit.
Speaking to our correspondent in an exclusive interview in Kumasi. Mr. Asante observed that Ghana Post is though a very vibrant and big communication network in the country, certain logistics like vehicles, motor bikes among others that would help the outfit to work effectively to ensure expansion that could generate job opportunities for the unemployed in the society have eluded it. To this end, he expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Communication, Hon. Ursula Owusu who upon her appointment has shown greater interest to revamp Ghana Post to boost its functions. The Regional Director said despite the challenges, that faced by the Ghana Post, the outfit is still doing well to regain its past glory. On this note Mr. Asante humbly appealed to the Sector Minister to come out with policies that could benefit both government and Ghana Post especially in the areas of job creation and revenue mobilization. According to Mr. Asante certain responsibilities that were formerly functioning in the Ghana Post like passport forms sales, including other sub function in the security service and Ghana Education Service have seized to be functioning at Ghana Post thus giving monopoly for corruption in certain government agencies and said these facilities need to be reversed for the attention of the Ghana Post to ensure transparency in the society. These facilities, he said also enhance financial generation and employment creation and more over give freedom to the public to enjoy uninterrupted services. In his quest to ensure that Ghana Post effectively revamps its services Mr. Johnson Asante urged the sector Minister to pay regular visits and acquaint herself about the activities of the outfit and see how much she could do to uplift the image of the service.
About the staff of the service, Mr. Asante advised them against corruption and malpractices such as pilferation and other crimes that was formerly tarnishing the image of the Ghana Post, adding, currently management have instituted policies that would dismiss workers who may be caught in the act of stealing. Finally, he said, the new Director of the Ghana Post who stands for transparency is also ready to hammer corrupt workers and therefore called on all workers to comport themselves and work faithfully to move the outfit forward.
