AGRO-CHEMICAL DEALER LAUDS GHANA GOV’T
In his pursuit to recognize the zeal and passion the government of Ghana over the years investing in the agriculture sector is significant and needs to be recommended.
The Chief Executive Officer of Jornafired Enterprise, Mr. John Kwabena Owusu expressed his profound gratitude said, governments’ since independence and now have seen the need for farmers to be treated fairly through support of farm inputs. The attention given to farmers by government with the aim of growing the agriculture sector is in the right directions that would increase the chance for farmers to grow more food.
Mr. John Kwabena Owusu who was adjudged the 2015 Agro-chemical Metro Best Dealer in the Ashanti Region during the 2015 Farmers Day celebration was of the view that the initiative and foresight of government to support farmers through seeds and fertilizer subsidy have motivated many young people to enroll into farming has increased food production in the country. Having said that the ideologies of both governments are the same towards farmers which stand to believed that the nation’s agricultural sector has a great future progress.
Nevertheless, Mr, Owusu in his candy opinion stressed that the free subsidy fertilizers is sold in the market and its time we have to shun politics in everything we are doing so as to build a strong and resilient Ghana. For some time now youth participation in farming is increasingly encouraging and this would see a steady growth in the country’s economy because many African countries and the world relied on agriculture as their livelihood and backbone to their GDP growth and Ghana is not exempted.
According to him, since government is dishing out a huge sum of money on farmers, structures also have to be put in place to avoid losses after harvest. Adding farmers’ outstanding challenge is during harvest time because food crops got spoiled due to lack of storage facilities like; processing centers, ware houses and weighing scales-for this reason, government should consider these challenges and set up storage and processing facilities in each district so as to help farmers enjoy good prices during harvest.
In an interview with the akoraonlineradio, Mr. John Kwabena Owusu of Jornafired Enterprise located at Mboru a suburb of Kumasi with many agro-chemical outlets in almost all the districts in the region said, their core aim as agro-chemical dealers are to support the policies and initiative of every government to put smiles on the faces of our gallant farmers to grow more food to boost the country’s food security. For this core reason, he advised the public especially the youth to develop farming habits in farming and as we grow local food, we have to consumed our local food than the foreign foods- and government should also consider reducing the importation of importer food to help the patronage of our local production.
