Due to inaccurate serial numbers, the Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that all ballots for the Volta and Ahafo regions will need to be reprinted.

At an emergency IPAC meeting on Friday, November 15, Samuel Tettey, the EC’s Deputy Chairman of Operations, made the announcement.

He claims that although the printing of ballots has gone mostly without a hitch, there have been some worries in recent weeks over the serialization of ballots for the Ahafo and Volta areas.

“The serialization of the ballot paper numbers has presented a challenge for the Commission,” he stated.

He clarified that the Commission has sent teams to the printing company to correct the irregularities and has taken significant action to address the problem.

The Commission decided to rewrite the papers for the Ahafo and Volta areas after he pointed out that there are still holes in them.

Mr. Tettey added that the Commission has decided to use Acts Commercials and Buck Press to print the legislative and presidential ballots for the two regions.
“We would like to notify you that we will provide you with the printing schedule by today’s end,” he stated.

A certificate of destruction will be signed by all parties present during the procedure, and copies will be given to each party, he noted, adding that plans for the disposal of the faulty votes will also be communicated with political parties and stakeholders.
