Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) national chairman, has ordered the party’s lawmakers to abstain from any emergency recall of the House.

He claims that because the NDC is dedicated to defending Ghana’s democracy and its institutions, it will not allow a small group of people to jeopardize the nation’s democratic underpinnings and has promised to take all necessary measures to do so.

Mr. Nketia emphasized the importance of Parliament in Ghanaian democracy during his campaign at Asasetre, which is located in the Ellembelle constituency of the Western Region.

“Without the active participation of parliament, a strong democracy cannot exist.” Authoritarianism would thrive if Parliament were disregarded or weakened, undermining democratic rule. Parliament represents the will of the people and makes sure that power isn’t concentrated in the hands of one person, thus we must support it.

A robust Parliament is necessary for a functioning democracy because it keeps any one person from determining the course of the nation. We must continue to defend democracy and Parliament, which we have battled for, both now and in the future. He reiterated his stance.

He told the Parliamentarians from the NDC to abstain from any emergency recall.

I’m not sure which government they’re referring to, but the judges in Parliament are saying that if Parliament doesn’t meet, government business could collapse. I’m recommending that NDC members of Parliament abstain from any emergency recall in light of this uncertainty.

However, Asiedu Nketia is mobilizing party members and supporters to cast a resounding majority of votes in favor of the existing NDC leadership.

“Let’s show our dedication to Ghana’s democracy by overwhelmingly electing our NDC leadership and parliamentary candidates as we go to the polls.”

This would increase the number of NDC representatives in Parliament, strengthening our party’s position. We will be supporting a stronger democratic process in Ghana by doing this.
