A memorable evening full of exciting events marked the end of the 2024 Guinness Ghana DJ Awards grand finale, which was sponsored by Smirnoff and honored Ghanaian DJs who have had a significant influence on the country’s music landscape.

This year’s awards, which were produced by Merqury Republic and supported by Smirnoff, celebrated the 12th edition of Africa’s Biggest DJ Night and established a new standard for excellence in the sector. Under the motivational subject “United in Music,” the event brought together fans and prominent figures from the business for a fantastic evening recognizing the creativity of DJs.
The event, which featured an impressive lineup of nominees, demonstrated the inventiveness and impact of DJs who are the backbone of Ghana’s thriving music scene. It demonstrated that, similar to Smirnoff, the life of the party, these gifted DJs infuse every celebration with vitality, excitement, and life-changing moments.

DJ Lord won the much-awaited “DJ of the Year” title for the second consecutive year. He is unique in the industry because of his dynamic contributions to Ghana’s music scene, which have not only enthralled audiences but also consistently pushed creative frontiers. DJ Mish, whose skill and impact have established her as a formidable force in the business, also won the title of “Female DJ of the Year.”

Among the several categories that recognized DJs in a variety of specialties were “Best Discovery DJ,” “Best Female DJ,” and “Best DJ /Artist Collaboration” at the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards.

The Ghana DJ Awards Voting Academy, a distinguished group of professionals from the fields of music, media, journalism, digital marketing, and public relations, carefully considered each DJ’s influence on the entertainment sector before selecting the nominees and winners in each category.

Guinness Ghana Breweries PLC’s dedication to empowering DJs is demonstrated by events like the Smirnoff Ice Dome, which honors music and gives college DJs a stage on which to perform. The creation of the “Best Student DJ” award, which honors exceptional university talent and fosters the development of the future generation of DJs, further demonstrates this commitment.

“The Guinness Ghana DJ Awards showcase the incredible talent within our DJ community, whose passion and contributions have been instrumental in shaping Ghana’s music landscape,” said Yaa Amoah-Owusu, Marketing Manager for International Spirits and RTDs, who presented the “Overall DJ of the Year” and “Female DJ of the Year” awards. We must give these artists credit for their hard work and inventiveness. Furthermore, we are ecstatic to acknowledge the value of diversity and inclusivity, especially in light of the outstanding accomplishments of our female DJs who are changing the game. Guinness Ghana is dedicated to supporting projects that foster diversity in the DJ community because we believe that all voices in music should be heard.

This year’s events culminated in the Pub Festival, which gave the organizers the opportunity to travel outside of Greater Accra to find exceptional DJs in the chosen areas in the run-up to the grand finale. Through conferences and other educational initiatives, the Ghana DJ Clinic also functioned as the awards program’s educational arm, empowering DJs. The board also emphasized their dedication to identifying talent from all over the nation by announcing the return of the regional category, which had been discontinued in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The awards this year placed a strong emphasis on diversity and inclusivity, showcasing the exceptional skills of female DJs who are making notable advancements in the field. The “Best Female DJ” category honored exceptional women who are shattering stereotypes and changing attitudes in a traditionally male-dominated industry. By giving these gifted people a stage, the awards not only recognize their efforts but also encourage the upcoming generation of female DJs to follow their dreams without hesitation.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support the DJs who keep us moving, and congratulations to all the candidates and winners who helped make this night one to remember. We’re excited to watch how Ghana’s DJ scene develops and inspires people in the years to come.
