Kurt Okraku, the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has expressed his profound sorrow at the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
When Ghana fell 1-2 at home to Niger in the final Group F match on Monday, their qualification run reached its lowest point.
Kurt Okraku linked the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification to the “highest heights” of his tenure on his official Facebook page shortly after the match at the Accra Sports Stadium.
However, he told himself the truth about his feelings.
He wrote, “From the pinnacles of world football on March 29, 2022, to the lowest ebb of Afcon qualifying matches.”
“My heart is bleeding.”
However, the president of the GFA promised that calm heads will win out and “fix this problem.”
“This is definitely not what we bargained for or what we want.” Only calm heads can prevail at this time; therefore as our sport’s leaders, we will stick together, be honest with ourselves, and find a solution.
“After normalization, the road to full recovery will undoubtedly be difficult and rocky, but with patience and teamwork, Ghana, our dear nation, will triumph.
“As the leader and a Black Stars supporter, I understand your and our suffering. We shall overcome this short-term setback. Everything will work out.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers will start in March, marking Ghana’s next competitive match.
